Today, education is changing in British Columbia. It appears that the focus in education has dominantly been in academic areas, but now there is an emerging focus in social-emotional learning. After, taking various education courses at University of British Columbia, speaking to my educators and learning about British Columbia’s new curriculum, I began to become curious. I began to slowly inquire, and question: “why is social-emotional learning becoming prominent in education?” Also, “how could educators implement social and emotional learning strategies within their classrooms in order to support diverse learners?” Through doing research, I found the answers; the purpose of this website is to help other educators learn more through my research, learn about the progressive change within aspects of education in British Columbia and how they can implement strategies within their classrooms to help their students develop social-emotional competencies.
